Today we drove from South Dakota into Wyoming, through the Wind River Reservation, and into Dubois, Wy, just east of Jackson. We’ll stay here for 3 nights at the Longhorn Ranch.
We are finally back to full electric and water hookups. But that really wasn’t a problem over the past 3 nights. The lithium battery on the HAFH never dropped below 60% even with the refrigerator running all the time, the water pump going sporadically, and some lights in the evening. And it was super easy to fill the water reservioir with a 5 gallon tub and a funnel. The only time we really need electric hookups is if it’s super hot and we need a/c. That’s the only time the battery wouldn’t cut it. But for some reason the guys are REALLY looking forward to showers in Dubois.
The drive through Wyoming was gorgeous. Lots of huge, wide open spaces.
OMG this place is gorgeous. The Ranch is even nicer than it looked online. The property is big and spacious. The gravel drives into the sites are well maintained. The separate full bathrooms are clean, spacious and just like home. And there is even a dog park for Patty.
But the best part is our site itself. We are just a few steps from the Wind River. The only sounds we hear are the birds and the racing river. The river is too high and too fast right now to do any wading fly fishing. And the river is just too fast too fish much from the bank. But before we were even done unpacking the boys had their lines in the water anyway.
Our site is very comfortable and nice. We had a good spaghetti dinner. Then firemaster D built a fire for s’mores
Thursday’s adventure is Yellowstone. So, stay tuned!
