Today is mostly a free day. The boys slept in while Sam and I reorganized everything to be repacked into the car and trailer. Then Sam and I took Patty for an off the beaten path hike through a canyon nearby. We found two different hikes right off of the Colorado River. The first was the Moon Flower Trail. It was only about a half a mile long. So we drove a little further into the canyon, on some wild switchbacks all the way to the bottom of the canyon. We hiked another mile or two all the way to the end of the canyon, mostly down a dry riverbed. Patty had a good time chasing all kinds of stuff back there.

Which reminds me, we found some neat places to camp back there that I didn’t know about. It’s mostly BLM land and has a few organized off grid campgrounds, either directly along the Colorado river, or just across the street from the Colorado river. The sites across the street look like they had a lot more shade than the ones on the river. Having electricity when it’s 100° outside it’s pretty important to us. But if we were here in cooler weather, those campgrounds might do the trick.

The boys went fishing for a while this afternoon and got a bunch of little stuff.

After dinner we headed back into Arches national Park to see the sunset for our last hurrah on our trip. The boys climbed into crevices and had a good time exploring.

Then we came home unloaded the car and trailer. Tomorrow we start our long trek back home

What We're Eating...operation “clean out the fridge”
Breakfast: Breakfast sandwich
Lunch: Sandwiches, leftover breakfast casserole, and omelette with leftover pancakes
Dinner: Southwest chicken, vegetables, and rice
Temperatures: about 70° at the trail and about 80° when we finished. Pretty sure we hit the mid 90s in the afternoon when we were all hiding out in the air-conditioning. There’s not a cloud in the sky so they say the UV is an 11 outside. Yikes!
