Today is the day that the guys (and ok, me a little too) have been looking forward to for a while … a HOUSE! It gets pretty hot here during the day in Moab. Going without air conditioning just wasn’t going to cut it, and most of the good places to camp don’t have electricity. So, AirBnB to the resuce! And it’s nice to have a place to wash our clothes (much needed) and leave Patty during the day while we hike. And I was also worried that Moab would be a bit crowded. So this gives us a place to hide out in at night away from the crowds at the campground. We’ll see how that all works out.
It was another day of driving for miles (105miles) with no towns or gas stations. But it sure was pretty!
We treated ourselves to our 2nd non homemade dinner for the whole trip. We ordered pizza and just stayed in for the night washing clothes. the party never stops around here. The pizza, salad, and garlic bread were pretty awesome. http://www.anticaforma.com/
The boys are talking about going fishing tonight (I think that’s code for “checking out the local scenery”). But I’m hoping that everyone will collapse into bed tonight pretty early. I hear the sunrise is pretty amazing in Arches National Park. Wish me luck getting the boys out of bed for that in the morning!

Time to Setup: ZERO
Time to Packup/Pullout in Zion: longer than it should have. The Batwing awning is the bane of Sam’s existence these days. It was already a pain to put away. But then one of the horizontal poles broke our first night in Utah. Duct tape to the rescue. Then when we set up in Zion yesterday, two more horizontal poles snapped. More duct tape, ‘cause shade is mandatory in the dessert. But that meant it was a super pain to put away this morning…and then the zipper got stuck on the tent cover. I’m the zipper whisperer to get it unstuck, but it’s still a pain. Hopefully we won’t need the batwing anymore…and even if we do, Multiple gentleman may put their foot down on my request for shade. C’est la vie. Guess I’ll just have to rough it 😊
The comment about putting their collective foot down brought a belly laugh from this women with only male children. I understand completely your plight and I can easily imagine the faces of the guys if you even make the suggestion of wishing shade. As things come to an end you have shared quite a few adventures. Thanks for keeping up the blog.
